KAMSACK — Members of the Kamsack branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, who hunted and fished the best examples in various categories of their sport during the past year, were honoured at an awards banquet on April 18.
The winner of the Walter Lesuik Outstanding Member Award was Chris Bowes.
In the category for the typical white-tailed deer, Byron Petruk was presented with the men’s award for a deer that had measured 162 6/8 points. Leanne Green won the award for the women’s category for an animal that had measured 131 6/8 points. Brodie Hunter, for an animal that measured 107 7/8 points, topped the men’s youth category, while Kaylie Harper, for a deer measuring 88 3/8 points, won the award for the women’s youth category.
Brendon Peppler received the award for the best non-typical white-tailed deer in the men’s category. His trophy measured 155 4/8 points.
Receiving the award, sponsored by River Valley Archery Club, for obtaining the top white-tailed deer by archery in the men’s category was Riley Eiffert, for an animal that measured 153 6/8 points.
The award for the top typical mule deer in the men’s category was Ethan Shabatoski, whose trophy measured 170 1/8 points.
In the typical elk categories, the men’s award went to Ethan Shabatoski for an animal that had measured 307 6/8 points, while Grace Shabatoski received the award for the youth women’s category for an animal that had measured 278 1/8 points.
For the top moose, Tyson Barrowman received the award in the men’s category for an animal that had measured 147 5/8 points.
For bear, Ethan Shabatoski received the award for an animal that had measured 18 6/16 points, while Nathaniel Shabatoski received the award in the men’s youth category for his bear that had measured 19 8/16 points.
Ken Barrowman was presented with the award in the men’s antelope category for an animal that had measured 70 2/8 points, while Amber Barrowman received the award in the women’s category for her antelope that measured 73 0/8 points.
In the northern pike category, Leanne Green received the award in the women’s category for a fish that measured 32.25 inches, while Nathaniel Shabatoski was presented the youth men’s award for his pike that measured 31 inches.
Leanne Green returned to the podium to receive the award for the women’s top walleye for her fish that measured 28.6 inches, while Liam Shabatoski won the award in the youth men’s category for his fish measuring 22.5 inches and Sawyer Chutskoff received the award in the youth women’s category for her fish that measured 22 inches.
Leanne Green was called to the front for a third time to receive the award in the women’s perch category for a fish that measured 13.0 inches.
