PREECEVILLE — The Town of Preeceville, in partnership with SaskWater and the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), has announced plans to construct a new water treatment plant.
The project includes building a new facility and implementing an updated water treatment process to replace the town’s existing infrastructure and filtration system, originally built in 1967. The grant-funded project will also include regional potable water supply components to support future expansion and growth.
The project development agreement with SaskWater provides the town with access to provincial and federal funding through ICIP. The town will own and operate the facility upon completion.
The total project is estimated to cost $10.6 million, with approximately 73 per cent, or $7.8 million, funded through grants. Construction is expected to begin in September 2026 and be completed by November 2027.
Over the past decade, the Town of Preeceville has been working to replace its aging potable water infrastructure in the most efficient and cost-effective way. The project is expected to sustain water services for the community for years to come.
The town has maintained consistent water and sewer service rates over the past five years while continuing operations, addressing infrastructure needs, and funding wastewater treatment lagoon and lift station upgrades in 2020 and 2021.
With the new water treatment plant project and anticipated capital and operating costs, gradual water and sewer service rate increases will be implemented by the town.
