REGINA — Mitch Picton is calling it a career.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver announced his retirement Friday. The 30-year-old Regina native played nine seasons with the CFL club.
Picton will go out as a champion, having helped the Riders down Montreal 25-17 in the 2025 Grey Cup game at Winnipeg’s Princess Auto Stadium.
Saskatchewan selected Picton in the fifth round, No. 37 overall, out of Regina in the 2017 CFL draft. He appeared in 94 career regular-season games, registering 96 catches for 1,081 yards and six touchdowns.
Last season he had 20 receptions for 226 yards in 14 regular-season games.
He was also active in the community as player ambassador for the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation.

Brubacher, Fisher announce their CFL retirements
HAMILTON — Canadian defensive lineman Luke Brubacher and American linebacker Kyler Fisher announced their CFL retirements Friday.
Brubacher spent two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats while Fisher was with the CFL club in 2025.
Hamilton selected the six-foot-five, 246-pound Brubacher in the second round, No. 11, in the 2024 CFL draft out of Laurier. The 25-year-old native of Listowel, Ont., appeared in five games with the Ticats in 2024, registering two special-teams tackles.
Last season was Fisher’s first with Hamilton. The five-foot-11, 231-pound linebacker had 60 tackles, nine special-teams tackles and a sack in 14 regular-season games.
Hamilton also released American receiver Trejan Bridge.
