The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added another receiver with pro football experience to their roster.
The club announced Tuesday it has signed American wide receiver Mathew Sexton.
Sexton, 28, most recently attended rookie camp with the Ottawa REDBLACKS after spending time in the UFL with the San Antonio Brahmas. During the 2025 season, the 5-foot-10, 176-pound receiver dressed for four games, returning eight punts for 154 yards and a touchdown, including an 83-yard punt return major. He also added one kickoff return for 20 yards and three catches for 15 yards.
The Chicago native has also had NFL opportunities with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins after signing with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2021.
Sexton also suited up for eight games with the Vegas Vipers in 2023, recording 23 catches for 326 yards.
Collegiately, Sexton played four seasons at Eastern Michigan University, where he recorded 100 receptions for 1,135 yards and nine touchdowns over 43 games. In his senior season, he started all 11 games and posted 34 catches for 508 yards and four touchdowns.
The Roughriders also announced that National defensive back Gideon Agyei has been moved to the retired list.
The Riders also released defensive back Billy Jonas Pernier on Monday. Pernier, who played U Sports football at Laval, signed with the Roughriders as an undrafted free agent.
