REGINA — The ribbon has been cut to mark the opening of a new four-space group home in Regina for adults with intellectual disabilities.
The home, located on Dumont Way in southeast Regina, is the newest one for Regina-based non-profit Chip and Dale Homes Inc.
The home began taking on residents in early 2025. There are three residents living there right now, and they have access to staff available 24 hours a day, as well as tailored residential support, including supervision and personal care.
“What began as a house one year ago has now become something truly special, a home,” said Kathy Fuchs, program co-ordinator at Chip and Dale Homes Inc.
“Over the year, one man transitioned from his family home and two moved from other homes within Chip and Dale Homes. Each move marked a significant transition in their lives. Since then, we've watched three young men transform the space filled with life, laughter, and connection. What once felt unfamiliar is now comfortable. What was new is now routine. Today, it's clear this is their forever home and what a year it has been.”
The Ministry of Social Services provided $1.5 million in capital funding for the project and will provide annual operating funding of $500,000.
“Investments like this create opportunities for greater independence, connection and for people to build lives that reflect who they are and what matters to them,” Social Services Minister Terry Jenson said. “For families it brings peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are in a place that feels like home.”
