PREECEVILLE — Dale Strelezki of the Endeavour district was once again honoured to receive Weyerhaeuser’s Driver of the Year for Safety award.
In honour of his award, Weyerhaeuser donated $6,175 to a charity of Strelezki’s choice. He will have the opportunity to use the donation as a tax deduction. Strelezki selected the Preeceville Community Hall, with the donation to be allotted toward bathroom renovations.
Past charitable organizations he has selected include the Health Focus Group and the Ukrainian Dance Club.
“I am a firm believer in giving back and doing my part in keeping organizations strong in tradition, for future generations, and keeping our small communities alive,” he said.
“I got started in trucking by hauling for my uncle, and over the years have driven for other companies, even owning my own truck,” he said.
He has since sold his trucks and has continued to drive for Paligan Trucking.
He has won the award nine times and has been driving a truck for 47 years.
The criteria included the percentage of overweight load violations, speeding infractions, daily hours of service, safe load audits, truck inspection results and compliance.
“I feel very privileged that my hard work and determination in upholding all safety protocols are acknowledged, and I hope that I can continue showing younger drivers that they can strive for the same ambitions,” he said.
