Broadview RCMP have laid multiple charges following an armed incident on Kahkewistahaw First Nation early Wednesday morning.
Police say officers were called to a residence at around 4 a.m. on May 27 after receiving reports that a woman was being confined by an armed man.
RCMP responded immediately and arrested a male suspect at the scene.
Investigators say the suspect assaulted a woman, pointed a firearm at her, and refused to let her leave the residence. A second man at the property was also allegedly threatened, while his vehicle sustained damage during the incident.
Police say the firearm was never discharged and no physical injuries were reported.
During a search of the residence, officers located and seized a handgun.
As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old Anthony Kinistino of Ochapowace First Nation is facing several charges, including assault, forcible confinement, uttering threats, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Kinistino appeared in Regina Provincial Court on May 27th.
Broadview RCMP say the investigation remains ongoing.
