I’m spending a few days in Mossbank with their Dare to Dream Lotto, and for this trip I’m calling Assiniboia home. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that you never know what kind of sights Saskatchewan is going to surprise you with.
Yesterday, I was driving back to Assiniboia in the rain. It had been one of those grey prairie days where the windshield wipers get a good workout. As I pulled into town, the rain began to ease and the clouds started to break apart. That’s when Mother Nature decided to put on a show.
Beside the hotel where I’m staying, a small stream was flowing from all the recent rain. As I looked up, there it was—a beautiful rainbow stretching across the sky right over the hotel. The colours were incredible and seemed even brighter against the dark clouds that were still hanging around.
It’s amazing how something as simple as a rainbow can make you stop and appreciate the moment. In our busy lives, we often rush from one place to the next without taking time to notice the beauty around us. Yesterday was a reminder to slow down and take it all in.
Now, I did look around for the pot of gold that is supposed to be at the end of the rainbow. Unfortunately, after a thorough investigation, I came up empty-handed. Maybe I was standing at the wrong end, or maybe someone beat me to it!
Either way, the view was worth more than gold. Sometimes the best treasures aren’t the ones you can put in your pocket—they’re the moments that make you smile and remind you just how beautiful Saskatchewan can be.
