Calgary Stampeders offensive lineman D’Antne Demery has been fined for striking Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive lineman Desmond Evans during the teams’ preseason game May 18.
The Canadian Football League announced Demery’s fine Wednesday along with two others, to Edmonton Elks defensive linemen Richard Jibunor and Gavin Meyer.
As per league policy, the CFL does not announce the dollar amount of fines, discipline related to dress code violations, teams, staff or involving players who have been released.
The maximum allowable fine under the current collective bargaining agreement with the CFL Players Association is half the value of one game cheque.
Nine Sask. officials on CFL roster
Nine Saskatchewan-based penalty-callers have made the CFL’s 47-person officiating roster for the 2026 season, with Saskatoon’s Tim Kroeker leading the seniority list at 309 games called according to the league news release issued Wednesday.
Kroeker is followed in seniority by Regina’s Blair Brown (190 games), Prince Albert’s Troy Semenchuk (158 games), Saskatoon’s Walt Hawrysh (143 games) and Saskatoon’s Iain Cropper (107 games).
The other four Saskies donning the stripes this season are Regina’s Ryan Stark (89 games), Regina’s Dan Mulvihill (85 games), Saskatoon’s Mike Ciona (83 games) and Regina’s Dan Fleischhaker (17 games).
Pre-gaming in Riderville
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced two new pre-game fan experiences for the 2026 season.
The first will be known as Riderland Park, with free family-friendly activities ranging from live music and bounce castles to face-painting, photo opportunities, autograph signings and outdoor games including dodgeball and cornhole.
Ahead of the June 13 season opener, fans will also have the chance to get their photo taken with the Grey Cup before last season’s championship banner is raised.
Saskatchewan has also announced its tailgate zone, located south of Regina’s Brandt Centre and west of Mosaic Stadium, will be open to pedestrian traffic before games with an adjacent beer garden for those who choose to celebrate in that way prior to Riders home games.
"As a club, we are always looking for ways to make Rider game day even more memorable for our fans," team president and CEO Craig Reynolds said in a news release.
