YORKTON — Drivers can expect construction activity, minor delays, and detours as the City of Yorkton rolls out its summer infrastructure program across several major corridors.
Water and sewer upgrades
Work continues along Dalebrooke from Lakeview Road to Mountain Road, where water and sewer main replacements are underway. The area remains an active construction zone with detours and intermittent delays.
Concrete replacement work
Northstar Concrete has begun the 2026 Concrete Replacement Program, starting on York Road East between McBurney Drive and Mayhew Drive. Crews will operate weekdays and are expected to remain in the city for the next few months, prioritizing areas tied to upcoming paving work.
Asphalt paving schedule
Fedorowich Construction will begin mill-and-fill paving on June 22, following a two-stage schedule:
- June 22–24: Lawrence Avenue service road (Highway 10 to Palliser Way)
- June 24–26: York Road East (Mayhew Avenue to Cook Drive and McBurney Drive)
Curb, gutter, and sidewalk renewal
Concrete upgrades will take place across multiple neighbourhoods to improve safety and drainage. Key locations include:
- York Road East (Mayhew to McBurney)
- Henderson Street West (Betts to First Avenue)
- Laurier Avenue (Independent to Simpson)
- Simpson Street (Laurier to alley)
- Fifth Avenue South (King Street to end)
- Betts Avenue (Dunlop to Catherine)
- Additional smaller sections on Ball Road, Wellington Avenue, Dunlop Street East, Duncan Street West, 6th Avenue North, and Booth Street
Residents are asked to keep streets clear of parked vehicles in work zones.
Traffic and detours
Motorists should plan alternate routes:
- Avoid York Road East by using Broadway Street East or designated truck routes
- Use Hamilton Road or Palliser Way to bypass Lawrence Avenue paving
What to expect
Lane restrictions will affect access to some businesses along York Road East. Drivers are reminded to slow down, follow signage, and watch for workers. Construction hazards may remain even when crews are not present, and speeding fines double in work zones.
