It was a big weekend for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and their fans across the province.
The Riders kicked off the season at home with a huge win over the B.C. Lions, giving Rider Nation plenty to cheer about. Before the game even started, there was another reason to celebrate as the team unveiled its Grey Cup Championship banner. I have to admit, it looked pretty impressive seeing another year added to the list of Grey Cup titles.
As Rider fans, those championship years are something we take a lot of pride in. They represent unforgettable moments, great teams, and memories that bring the province together. Seeing that banner hanging proudly in the stadium was a reminder of just how special those Grey Cup victories were.
The Roughriders also sent us an awesome flag featuring all of the Grey Cup championship years. There was only one thing to do with it — put it on display! I raised our new Rider banner in the GX94 studio, where it will proudly fly all season long.
With a 1-0 start and a Grey Cup banner hanging high, it’s hard not to be excited about what this season could bring. Here’s hoping the Riders can keep the momentum rolling and give us plenty more reasons to celebrate.
