Ste Rose du Lac RCMP used a drone and police dog to arrest an Ebb and Flow First Nation man wanted on a number of warrants.
Around 9:55 p.m. on June 14, Mounties were checking out a shed on a property on the reserve on Highway 278, where the suspect was believed to be, and as they entered the shed, the suspect fled out the back, and wouldn’t stop when ordered to do so by police.
A 90-minute pursuit ensued, as officers tracked the man by foot, before employing a drone and police dog, that tracked the suspect for more than a kilometre through heavy brush and swampy areas.
The suspect eventually emerged from the brush with dog bite wounds, and he was treated in hospital, before being taken to the Ste Rose detachment, where he remains in custody, awaiting a court date.
45-year-old Mark Houle was wanted on four warrants in all, including for assaulting a police officer and flight from police, and he now faces an additional charge of resisting arrest..
