What a beautiful drive to Foam Lake yesterday.
I was on the road just before 4 a.m. to make my way out for the Foam Lake Recreation Combine Lotto. While most people were still asleep, I had the highways almost entirely to myself. Early mornings have always been my favourite time of day. There’s something special about the peace and quiet before the rest of the world wakes up.
As I made my way through the countryside, the sky began to light up with one of those incredible prairie sunrises. Around Sheho, I just had to pull over and take a picture. The colours were absolutely breathtaking. We truly are spoiled living on the Prairies where the skies seem to put on a different show every day.
One of my favourite parts of stopping was simply sitting there for a few minutes, taking it all in. No traffic, no noise, just the sound of birds chirping in the background and the sun slowly rising over the horizon. It’s moments like that which remind you to slow down and appreciate the simple things.
If you haven’t caught a sunrise lately, I highly recommend it. Set the alarm a little earlier, grab a coffee, and find a quiet spot. You might be surprised at how peaceful and refreshing it can be. Sometimes the best part of the day happens before most people even get out of bed.
