I can’t believe another school year has come and gone. It seems like just yesterday students were heading back to class in September, and now we’re already at the finish line.
This week is a busy one for students. High school students are hard at work writing final exams, while elementary students are enjoying all the fun activities and celebrations that make the last week of school so special. I always remember how exciting those final days were as a kid. There were class trips, outdoor activities, and lots of anticipation for summer vacation. For high school students, though, it’s a much different feeling as they deal with the stress and pressure of final exams.
This year feels a little different for me as a parent. My oldest son graduated from high school this spring, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. He worked incredibly hard throughout his high school years and achieved excellent grades—something I have to admit I wasn’t always the best at back in my day! It’s exciting to see him take the next step and begin a new chapter in life.
At the same time, my youngest will be moving on to Grade 10 next year. It’s hard to believe how quickly the years go by. Before I know it, my days of having kids in school will be over. It really puts into perspective how important it is to enjoy every stage while you’re in it.
To all the parents out there, enjoy the next couple of months without having to pack lunches, sign permission slips, and keep track of school schedules. And to all the students, congratulations on another successful school year. Enjoy your summer, make some great memories.
