PREECEVILLE — Students at Preeceville High School were acknowledged for their achievements at the Grade 7-12 awards day. Seth Reynolds was master of ceremonies for the afternoon.
Crossroads Credit Union presented the student recognition awards to students in Grades 7-12. Winners were Ally Scheller, Alex Algabre, Melissa Durand, Savannah Wintonyk, Luke Sandager and Izzy Payette. Kiera Balyski made the presentation on behalf of the credit union.
Academic awards were handed out to students in Grades 7-11.
For Grade 7, Becca Spray received ELA, math and phys-ed; Charlotte Newton, science and PAA; Allison Scheller, social and art; Adley Ward, PAA; Macy Balawyder, health; and Sam Korney, band.
In the Grade 8 category, Ashley Scott received ELA, math and PAA; Xhanine Solchaga, ELA and art; Alex Algabre, health and ELA; and Jayce Belous and Kat Wintonyk, science.
Students in Grade 9 who received awards were Abby Scheller, ELA and PAA; Aaron Johnson, ELA and health; Hailey Spray, math, social and PAA; Levi Maier, math; Carter Moekerk, science and phys-ed; Kiarah Federuik, art; and Briley Friday, band.
Grade 10 students receiving awards were Marie Anguluan, ELA, Indigenous studies and PAA; Savannah Wintonyk, ELA, pre-calculus and foundations, Science 10 and financial literacy; Wyatt Scheller, workplace and apprenticeship; Seth Reynolds, PAA; Trinity Petras, PAA and financial literacy; Jian Isican, wellness; Ireland Zuk, wellness; Peyton Lisoway, band; Maggie Ivanochko, Mental Health and Addictions 10; and Leah Thideman, visual arts.
Grade 11 students were Bri Paterson, ELA; Luke Sandager, foundations of math, pre-calculus and physical science; Olivia Ivanochko, health science and band; Devon Pursy, health science and visual arts; Hudson Maier, social; Carter Halkyard, phys-ed; Kaiden Bourassa, mental health and wellness; Anebeth Bartel, workplace and apprenticeship; and Carsyn Galiz, PAA.
Student Representative Council students were acknowledged.
Athletic awards were presented to junior and senior students in each category. In cross-country, Kierah Federuik received the dedicated and determined junior female award, Levi Maier received the dedicated and determined junior male award and Hudson Maier received the dedicated and determined senior male award.
In junior boys basketball, Bentley Bodnar and Jaxon Neilson received most improved; Wayne Regudo, MVP; Samuel Korney, rookie of the year; Xhilix Santos, hustler; and Levi Maier, leadership and dedication.
In junior girls basketball, Macy Balawyder and Ally Scheller received most improved; Melissa Durand, most dedicated; Abby Scheller, MVP; and Becca Spray, rookie of the year.
In senior girls basketball, Bri Paterson received most improved; Kacey Heskin, playoff MVP; Amber Spray, defensive superstar; Sarah Masko, rebounding champ; Lexi Prouse, heart and soul; Maggie Bartel, MVP; and Tess Covlin, iron player.
In senior boys basketball, Dhexy Palagian and Blake Descalchuk received MVP; Ralph Grasparil, most improved player; Wyatt Scheller, rookie of the year; Luke Sandager, dedicated and determined; and Jian Isican, defensive player of the year.
In junior boys volleyball, Aaron Johnson received most improved; Ethan Balawyder, most dedicated; Jaxon Neilson, rookie of the year; and Wayne Regudo and Gavin Erickson, MVP.
In junior girls volleyball, Abby Scheller received MVP; Macy Balawyder, dedication and leadership; Shaye Burym, most promising; Becca Spray, rookie of the year; and Kaleigh Meberg, most improved.
In senior girls volleyball, Lexi Prouse received most improved; Tess Covlin, best all-around player; Amber Spray, heart and soul; and Ireland Zuk, rookie of the year.
In senior boys volleyball, Carter Halkyard received the most dedicated award.
Senior football awards went to Alex Neilson, heart; Luke Sandager, hustle; Avery Franklin, commitment; Ralph Grasparil and Justice Stittle, improved; and Blake Descalchuk, rookie of the year.
Senior curling awards went to Claire Masko and Mackenna Firman, most improved; Macey Mitchell, most dedicated; Maggie Ivanochko, MVP; and Kendra Hueser, rookie of the year.
In the junior badminton awards, Gavin Erickson and Wayne Regudo received MVP, and in senior badminton, Kacey Heskin received most improved; Maggie Bartel, MVP; and Carter Halkyard, sportsmanship.
Amber Spray won the female track and field athlete award and the Female Athlete of the Year award. Levi Maier was presented with the male track and field athlete award. Ralph Grasparil was awarded the Male Athlete of the Year.
