The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are keeping their bench boss in place for the foreseeable future.
The club has signed Head Coach and General Manager Landyn Cochrane to a multi-year contract extension.
A former Wolverine player, Cochrane joined the coaching staff as an assistant in 2023 before being promoted to Head Coach and General Manager the following season. Since taking over, he’s compiled a 54-54-8 record while leading the Wolverines to the playoffs in each of his first two seasons.
This past spring, Waywayseecappo made franchise history by sweeping the Dauphin Kings for its first-ever playoff series victory before falling to the eventual MJHL champion Niverville Nighthawks in the second round.
Governor Morley Watson says Cochrane is one of the league’s brightest young coaches, adding his leadership and vision will help keep the Wolverines among the MJHL’s contenders.
Cochrane says returning home to coach the Wolverines has been a dream come true, and he’s excited to continue building toward the organization’s ultimate goal of bringing a championship back to the Waywayseecappo community.
