BEAUBIER — An airplane crashed near Beaubier in southeast Saskatchewan on July 8.
In an email to SaskToday, the federal Transportation Safety Board confirmed that an aerial application aircraft collided with terrain after contacting a power line. The crop duster was substantially damaged and there was a post-impact fire.
The TSB said it is currently gathering information and assessing the occurrence.
The Saskatchewan RCMP reported that members of the Weyburn detachment received a report of a plane crash south of Beaubier at about 10:40 a.m.
According to the RCMP, the sole occupant of the plane was taken to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance with injuries described as serious but non-life-threatening.
As this incident is not criminal in nature, the RCMP has no further information that it is able to share.
In a post on its Facebook page on July 8 at 10:40 a.m., the Radville-Laurier Volunteer Fire Department said it was responding to a call south of Radville near Beaubier.
"Please be respectful of those involved and avoid the area," the post said.
According to eye witnesses, an ambulance and the STARS Air Ambulance responded to the scene. STARS confirmed it transported one patient to Regina General Hospital.
No further information was immediately available on the condition of occupants.
