PREECEVILLE — Children in the local area are having fun some outdoor fun looking for stories in a fun setting.
A story walk is an unconventional, wonderful way for children of all ages to spend time outdoors whilst reading a book. The activity was geared towards promoting reading and physical activity during literacy week.
The Preeceville Library TD Summer Reading activity had children searching and reading pages from a children’s story that were individually torn out and laminated, then positioned around the Town of Preeceville administration building and ending at the Preeceville Heritage Museum. The was also part of the summer reading program.
It encouraged families to read with their children but is a cute story that everyone can enjoy, stated a library spokesperson.
The story, The Solitary Bee, features Colette and is a heartwarming introduction to the idea that even solitary beings need people, too.
Anyone can make it on their own. Colette is a solitary bee who enjoys her own company more than anyone else's and thrives on her independence. Colette can do just about anything by herself: day-to-day tasks, cleverly navigating the elements, and even setting out on solo adventures.
But sometimes, even the most solitary bees need other insects around, like when things don't go as planned, or when they simply have a good story to tell.
