PREECEVILLE — Kelsey Ecological Society, a nature group in Preeceville, is passionate about preserving wetlands, birds and nature in its environment.
The club will be hosting a presentation on wetlands and marsh birds with LeeAnn Latremouille at the Preeceville Cub 60 on July 18. The presentation will feature an indoor slide presentation followed by an outdoor nature field trip to Annie Laurie Lake.
Latremouille is a Saskatchewan Breeding Bird Atlas co-ordinator and is a dedicated naturalist. She has over 15 years of experience in conducting bird surveys and co-ordinating a citizen science program. Her expertise lies in wetlands and birds; she engages in wildlife preservation and her studies are vital for understanding large-scale changes in the bird population over time, which contributes significantly to conservation planning and environmental assessments.
The next event for the club is A Night With the Stars with Jeanine Holowatuik at Club 60 on Sept. 26, followed by a board elections ad member meeting on Nov. 7 at the Preeceville Library and concluding the season with a Christmas bird count on Dec. 30.
