INVERMAY – With their eyes on the theme, “Take pride in how far you’ve come. Have faith in how far you can go. But don’t forget to enjoy the journey,” a quote by Michael Josephson, members of the Invermay School Class of 2026 celebrated their graduation with friends and family members at Invermay School on June 25.
The five members of the graduating class are: Eisha Trazona, Tyla Dubas, Preston Graham, Cassandra Ponte and April Grychowski.
But first, there was an award to hand out from last year. Lisa Wotherspoon, Superintendent of Learning for Good Spirit School Division, presented the 2024-2025 Governor General’s Award to Irish Ferenal.
On to the Class of 2026, with the graduates receiving numerous well-deserved awards and scholarships.
Cassandra Ponte was awarded the Invermay School Staff Scholarship, the Wadena Co-op Scholarship, Good Spirit School Division Proficiency Award, the Scholarship in Memory of Mdm Loh Guah Hong, the Village of Invermay Scholarship and the Aspen Paramedics Scholarship. Ponte also received subject awards for Math, Sciences, English, and PAA, an Academic Medallion, Grade 12 Proficiency Award and the SRC (Student Representative Council) Senior Spirit Award.
April Grychowski received the Canadian Studies History Award, the Cross Age Tutoring Certificate, an Academic Medallion, Grade 12 Academic Award, Invermay School Community Council Scholarship, Invermay Ag Society Scholarship, and the Scholarship in Memory of Mdm Loh Guah Hong.
Tyla Dubas was the recipient of the Crossroads Credit Union Scholarship, the Visual Art Award, an Academic Medallion, and the RM of Invermay Scholarship.
Taking home the Cross Age Tutoring Certificate was Eisha Trazona, who also earned the Principal’s Certificate of Merit and an Academic Medallion.
In the highlight of the evening for the graduates, the five class members were presented with their graduation scrolls.
Tyla Dubas and Cassandra Ponte gave the valedictorian speech after being chosen for this honour by their classmates.
