It’s the reason behind the series – CJRM hits the airwaves from Moose Jaw.
July 27, 1926, marks the humble beginnings of what would become a heritage station known as 620 CKRM. It all started with a goal to bring farmers and grain elevator operators up to the minute grain and market prices. Broadcasting from the Richardson building in downtown Moose Jaw, CJRM quickly found its audience. And as the saying goes, the rest is history.
Fast forward to July 28, 2015, and you get a ‘once in a century event’ of another kind. Torrential rains pummeled the province. According to the Water Security Agency, parts of southern Saskatchewan received more than 100 millimetres of rain over two days. Crops and basements were flooded. In Regina, the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency's patient lodge was forced to evacuate 22 out of town patients to local hotels.
