I’ve checked all the lost and found sites, and we are off to the vet this week to make sure this baby isn’t micro-chipped. If she’s not, I think a cat has adopted our family. Meet Spot, at least that is what my 8 year old says her name is. I’ve tried a few different names, but I get shut down very quickly. “Her name is Spot, Mom!” This beauty showed up on our deck 10 days ago. I’ve only gotten to hang out with her for 2 days, being gone to Regina then Saskatoon for Ag in Motion. But in that week’s time, my husband went out and bought food and treats, and my boys have spent every moment they’ve been able to our on the deck with her.
We’re trying to be smart and not let her in the house until we get her all checked out by a vet. But dang, that has been hard. She’s on the chair first thing in morning waiting patiently to be fed, and then she’s there as soon as we get home at night. Talking to my neighbor, she’s been going over to her house to have an afternoon snack and lay on her deck in the sun. This is one smart kitty.
I did not want a pet. It’s been a few years since our family dog passed away, and since then I’ve gotten used to one less living thing that needs to be looked after. The fact that I’ve kept two house plants alive is incredible. The children are doing pretty good too. But this beautiful little kitty is too hard to say no to. And boy does she know what she’s doing. I swear that first purr that came out of her when I met her, I was done.
