Hockey’s best young talent will be heading west next spring as two major national championships find their new homes.
Hockey Canada has announced Brandon, Manitoba, and Fort McMurray, Alberta, as the hosts for the 2027 TELUS Cup and Centennial Cup.
The Brandon Wheat Kings will welcome the country’s top U18 AAA teams for the TELUS Cup, running April 19th through the 25th at the Keystone Centre. It will be a historic return, with Brandon hosting the event for the first time in more than 30 years.
Then in May, Fort McMurray will take centre stage as host of the Centennial Cup, presented by Tim Hortons. The National Junior A Championship runs May 6th to 16th, bringing together Canada’s top Junior A clubs.
Fort McMurray previously hosted the tournament in 2000, a year that saw the hometown Oil Barons capture a national championship in front of their home fans.
