A standout season with the Battlefords Sharks has earned Melville’s Savannah Mucha an opportunity to represent Canada on the international stage.
Mucha is one of four Saskatchewan players invited to Hockey Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team selection camp, taking place August 3rd to 8th at the Richmond Olympic Oval in British Columbia.
The defenceman enjoyed a breakout season with the Battlefords Sharks in the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League, recording seven goals and 17 assists for 24 points in 30 regular-season games during the 2025-26 campaign, finishing among the team’s top scorers while helping anchor the Sharks’ defence.
Mucha’s performance was a key part of a successful season for Battlefords, with the Sharks capturing the Fedoruk Cup and advancing to the Western Regionals for the first time in franchise history.
Along with Mucha, Saskatchewan representation at the U18 camp includes Martensville forward Sadie Green, Swift Current forward Laynee Rondeau, and Battleford forward Brooke Weber.
Hockey Canada’s U18 camp features 40 players, four goaltenders, 12 defencemen and 24 forwards, competing through on-ice training sessions, practices and three Red-White games before the final roster is announced August 9th.
Canada will then face the United States in a three-game series from August 12th to 15th in Richmond as preparations continue for the 2027 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship in Ostrava, Czechia.
