SASKATCHEWAN — WestJet and the union representing its striking flight attendants have reached a tentative agreement.
The deal was announced early Aug. 3, a little more than 24 hours after approximately 4,400 members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 8125 hit the picket line. The union represents flight attendants on the company's fleet of jets.
The strike stranded passengers and resulted in the cancellation of hundreds of flights across the country, including some in Regina and Saskatoon. As of 8 a.m. on Aug. 3, the Saskatoon Airport's website showed four arrivals and five departures for Aug. 3 were listed as cancelled. One departure from Saskatoon on Aug. 4 was still listed as cancelled.
The Regina Airport Authority has two arrivals and one departure listed as cancelled for Aug. 3.
WestJet Encore flights were not directly impacted by the labour dispute.
Both sides still have to ratify the deal.
