REGINA — Two reportable losses were reported by the Saskatchewan Health Authority to the Ministry of Health in the first quarter of the 2026-27 fiscal year (from April 1 to June 30, 2026).
An employee hired his own business to perform work for the SHA and approved related invoices for payment, resulting in a loss of $65,100, which has been fully repaid. The employee was terminated, and the SHA is implementing enhanced conflict of interest controls and oversight measures to mitigate the risk of similar incidents in the future.
A donation that was received by an employee was diverted for personal use, which resulted in a loss of $2,000, which has been fully repaid. The employee was terminated, and the SHA is reviewing and strengthening processes for managing donations.
