LIVE BLOG: Ottawa Redblacks vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders

10:02 p.m.
McLeod Bethel-Thompson is in at quarterback in garbage time. A sack by Hoskins causes a fumble, Marion recovers at the Ottawa 45, and Saskatchewan is in victory formation.

It took a bit to get going, but the Riders overcome all their injuries and post a dominant 42-20 victory. They're 6-2 on the season, Ottawa falls to 0-8.

9:56 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN ROUGHRIDERS! Couple more runs, Stevens gets to the outside from seven yards out and it's his second straight three touchdown game! Eight plays, 43 yards, 42-20 Saskatchewan with 1:20 to play in the game.

9:53 p.m.
It's Tommy Stevens time, runs for four, four and three yards get the first down at the 18 and the clock runs down to 2:28 to play in the game.

9:49 p.m.
Harris finds Mimbs for 15 yards down to the Ottawa 26 on the final play before the three-minute warning.

9:47 p.m.
Ottawa tries an onside kick, Riders recover at the Redblacks 43 with 3:48 to play.

9:43 p.m.
Touchdown Ottawa. White catches the seven yard pass over the middle. 12 plays, 79 yards, the convert is missed for the second time and Saskatchewan leads 35-20 with 4:07 remaining.

9:41 p.m.
Drive continues, catch by White gets Ottawa into the red zone up to the Riders seven.

9:38 p.m.
Hardy and Eberhardt have catches for 13 and 16 yards to get into Riders territory on the 46.

9:35 p.m.
Ottawa starts their next drive from their own 31 after the kickoff.

9:33 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN ROUGHRIDERS! Steven strikes again, this time from right up the gut for all six yards they need for the major. Five plays, 80 yards, 35-14 Saskatchewan with 9:40 to play in the game.

9:31 p.m.
BTH has a run for 21 yards to get up to the Ottawa six.

9:29 p.m.
Harris appears to change the play at the line and then finds Johnson over the middle for 51 yards up to the Ottawa 22.

9:24 p.m.
Interception Roughriders! Was just thinking they still haven't got one yet, but the defensive secondary finally breaks through. Edouard made a diving catch on the sidelines and it's Saskatchewan ball on their 30 with 12:52 to play in the game.

Passes to Bell and Pimpleton and Ottawa is over midfield. 

9:23 p.m.
Ottawa starts their next drive from their own 40.

9:22 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN ROUGHRIDERS! Steven finishes things off, the Riders celebrate with Pil Country. That's nine touchdowns this season for Stevens, and finishes off a drive that saw Harris complete eight passes with no misses. 12 plays, 96 yards and more than five minutes off the clock. 28-14 Saskatchewan with 14:31 to play in the game.

9:18 p.m.
TBH has had the majority of carries in the second half after Conley was banged up late in the second half, and his run for eight yards gets the Riders into first and goal at the one to close out the third quarter.

9:17 p.m.
Drive continues with catches by Mimbs, Djete and Johnson getting the Riders up to the Ottawa nine.

9:14 p.m.
Five straight short passes and Riders are up over midfield to the Ottawa 43.

9:07 p.m.
McDonald has 19-yard catch to get up to the Riders 41, but they get no closer after Maier intentionally grounds the ball to get out of a sack attempt. Punt sees the Riders starting their next drive from their own 14 with 5:14 to play in the third quarter.

9:06 p.m.
Ottawa starts their next drive from their own 30.

9:03 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN ROUGHRIDERS! Djete catches the ball over the middle, breaks a tackle and goes the rest of the way for his first career CFL touchdown. KeeSean catches the two point convert and it's seven plays for 69 yards and a 21-14 Saskatchewan lead with 8:35 left in the third quarter.

9 p.m.
KeeSean has a 15-yard catch and a TBH run after and the Riders are up to the Ottawa 18.

8:58 p.m.
Harris sacked for a loss of four but Mimbs makes a great catch in traffic for 21 yards into Ottawa territory at the 52.

8:53 p.m.
Riders start their next drive on their own 41.

8:51 p.m.
Touchdown Ottawa. Hardy catches a 23 yard pass up to the two and reaches to break the plane. Two point convert is good. Four plays, 43 yards, 14-13 Ottawa with 11:58 to play in the third quarter. 

8:47 p.m.
Hardy has a catch over the middle for 24 yards up to the Sask 18.

8:46 p.m.
Two incompletions and the Riders are punting from their own endzone. Ottawa gets the ball on the Riders 43 to start their first drive of the second half.

8:43 p.m.
Second half kickoff is up, and Riders end up on their own eight to start the second half after an illegal block.

8:26 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN ROUGHRIDERS! Holy clinical drive, Batman! Harris finds KeeSean over the middle for his sixth major of the season with six seconds to play. Eight plays, 71 yards in only 57 seconds. Saskatchewan takes a 13-6 lead into the half thanks to another impressive final minute drive.

8:22 p.m.
Johnson has 18 yard catch and KeeSean nine yard catch up to the Ottawa five with 12 seconds to play in the half.

8:21 p.m.
Johnson has a 10 yard catch and it's first down on the 39 with 36 seconds remaining in the half.

8:19 p.m.
KeeSean gets wide open on the sideline for 22 yards and the Riders are up to their own 51 with 1:04 left in the half.

8:17 p.m.
Ottawa gets up to their 51 and end up punting, it goes out of bounds, Riders balll on the 29.

8:13 p.m.
Harris nearly throws a pick six on a touchdown pass to DDB, but it goes off his hands and it's a 15-yard field goal. It's good, 6-6 tie with 2:04 left in the second quarter.

8:11 p.m.
KeeSean catches pass for 20 down the sideline, Riders in the redzone at the Ottawa 12 with 2:30 left in the half.

8:09 p.m.
Stevens breaks off a 16-yard gain on a second and two and Sask is up to the Ottawa 31.

8:06 p.m.
Catches by KeeSean for 21, 11 and eight yards and the Riders are in Ottawa territory at the 54 at the three minute warning.

8:02 p.m.
Ottawa goes for it on third down at the Riders 20, but the pass is underthrown and Sask gets the ball back on their own 20 with 5:16 to play in the second quarter.

8:00 p.m.
Five plays including a 19 yard catch by White and Ottawa is up to the Riders 26.

7:54 p.m.
Three plays and Riders are punting. Ottawa ball on their own 35.

7:56 p.m.
Riders start their next drive from their own 31 after the kickoff.

7:52 p.m.
Touchdown Ottawa. Handful of plays including a 27 yard catch by Eberhardt gets down to the Riders one, and Barnes finishes it off with the major. 12 plays, 91 yards. Extra point is missed, 6-3 Ottawa with 11:33 to play in the first half.

7:43 p.m.
Pimpleton has a catch over the middle for 12 yards and Ottawa is up to the Sask 38 on the final play of the first quarter.

7:24 p.m.
Ottawa strings together a handful of plays and are into Riders territory at the 50.

Strange moment and possibly a key moment.

 Redblacks go two and out, and the punt is blocked and recovered by Wiebe, who finds the endzone for a touchdown. A bizarre penalty to Adams for unnecessary roughness on the long snapper negates that play, and Ottawa gets the ball back on their own 34 after things shake out. 

7:31 p.m.
Good punt and coverage and Ottawa is starting from their 13 for the next drive with 3:52 to play in the first quarter.

7:30 p.m.
And that's the milestone. Trevor Harris now has 40,003 yards passing for his career, moving to 12th all time in that category. Get the sense he ain't done yet.

7:29 p.m.
Mimbs has a second down catch for 23 to get into Ottawa territory at the 49.

7:26 p.m.
A short pass and deep incompletion and Ottawa is punting. Riders get the ball back on their own 40.

7:25 p.m.
And the Redblacks Robinson get an interception right back. Ottawa ball on their own 23.

7:23 p.m.
Oof, that was a comedy of errors. Pimpleton mistimes his run behind the line, the snap hits him, and after bouncing around back to the 24 yard line,  Brooks recovers it's the Riders ball.

7:20 p.m.
Riders look to go for it from third and two on the Ottawa 26, but the Riders take their second procedure penalty of the drive and it's a field goal attempt from 34 yards. Down the middle, 3-0 with 8:13 remaining. And a whole lotta people exhale.

7:17 p.m.
Hah, Conley's first carry and it's a highlight reel. He's dead to rights behind the line but breaks at least four tackles and turns it into an 11-yard gain to the Ottawa 29.

7:15 p.m.
Djete has a catch for 16 and the Riders are up to the Ottawa 40.

7:12 p.m.
Drive gets up to Ottawa 31 and that's it. Ottawa punts, and a great return by Wiebe has the Riders starting their first drive on their own 54.

7:10 p.m.
Nice work on ST coverage right away! Edouard gets to Pimpleton quick and Ottawa starts on their own 16. 

7:06 p.m.
Riders win the coin toss, Saskatchewan defers to the second half and Ottawa gets the ball to start the game. Kick-off is in moments.

7:01 p.m.
Here are Luc's Three Keys to the Game. As he says, they're not complicated:

1 – Success will have to go through the offensive line. The offensive line has to win up front in both pass blocking and rushing and Quali Conley needs to have another big game.

2 – Have to get pressure on Jake Maier. If the Riders can get pressure on Jake Maier, that’ll lead to mistakes, and that’ll lead to turnovers. Bring blitzes, get Jake moving and let’s see what happens.

3 – Special teams coverage has to be good. Redblacks returner Kalil Plimpleton is dangerous, so the coverage on punt and kick returns has to be spot on. Can’t let this team find life with big special teams plays.

Late line-up change for the Riders. Daniel Johnson has been battling illness this week and can't go today so Erik Andresen gets the start. Jez Janvier comes off the practice roster and will play as the offensive line sixth man.

It’s going to be a perfect night for football, with temperature at 21 C at game time under a mix of sun and cloud and no chance of precipitation. Winds won’t be too bad at 20 km/h out of the northwest. Air quality is of no concern, sitting in the Low Risk (2) range and remaining there throughout the evening.

4:01 p.m.
The Rider Broadcast Network is currently on the air, with Teagan Witko and Wes Cates bringing you plenty of news and views in the lead-up to game time. Once there, Dave Thomas and Luc Mullinder will have the game call, with kick-off at 7 p.m. from Mosaic Stadium.

4:00 p.m.
If things were as they should be heading into the meeting between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Ottawa Redblacks on Friday night at Mosaic Stadium, there’s little question the contest between West and East Division rivals would be a ‘trap game’.

Not a lot of other ways to describe a contest between the defending Grey Cup champs and a team that has yet to find the win column this season.

But injuries have a way of evening the playing field, and that factor has turned this meeting into a very interesting game, very quickly.

The Roughriders come into the Week 10 contest with a 5-2 record and in second place in the West in addition to having a bit of momentum on their side. That’s thanks to their most heartening win of the campaign thus far, a 28-26 victory over the Edmonton Elks in Edmonton last week that offered a measure of revenge and allowed them to keep pace with the Division leaders.

That success came in spite of a series of injuries prior to and during the game, and that list has only become worse since.

Running back A.J. Ouellette, defensive back Rolan Milligan Jr., defensive back Tevaughn Campbell, receiver Sam Emilus, receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker and fullback Albert Awachie are just some of the key names sidelined for this outing.

That’s given the Redblacks a bit of extra hope that things can go their way. Quarterback Jake Maier pointed out earlier this week that his 0-7 team just hasn’t been able to put everything together in a single game, but if they do, a win could certainly be in the cards.

And facing a team missing a half-dozen ultra-elite starters might be what they need to solve the winning equation.

So will the Riders' depth prevail as it did in Edmonton? Or will the Redblacks finally gather themselves and find the win column?
