LIVE BLOG: Saskatchewan Roughriders at Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Tiger-Cats finish things off with class and kneel at the goalline and Hamilton has a 26-19 victory.

7:45 p.m.
Harris throws his second interception of the game, Hamilton ends up with the ball on the Riders one after a couple of penalties with 31 seconds remaining.

7:42 p.m.
KeeSean is back on the field but favouring his right leg, 43 seconds left in the game with the Riders on their own 10 with 43 seconds left in the game.

7:40 p.m.
Riders get the stop and force a 37-yard field goal, and it's good. 26-19 Hamilton with 51 seconds remaining in the game.

7:38 p.m.
Two more runs by Rountree and Hamilton gets another first down up to the Riders 35 with 1:19 remaining in the game.

7:35 p.m.
Hamilton gets a key first down to get the clock under two minutes.

7:33 p.m.
Catch by Lawler and unnecessary roughness penalty on the tackle has Hamilton up to the Riders 52 with 2:39 to play.

7:31 p.m.
Riders punt, Hamilton has the ball back on their own 35 at the three minute warning.

7:29 p.m.
Harris attempts to find KeeSean over the middle but he pulls up with an apparent right leg injury and White gets the interception. Replay centre looks into it to make sure it was caught, and the Riders catch a huge break with an incompletion. KeeSean goes to the medical tent, though, and it's not looking good.

7:25 p.m.
Drive stalls there, Hamilton has a 25-yard field goal that's good. 23-19 with 3:44 remaining in the game.

7:24 p.m.
Wheatfall gets wide open again but has the ball go off his hands in the endzone. Hamilton second down on the Riders 24.

7:21 p.m.
Ford runs for 14 and Rountree for six and Hamilton is up to the 31 with 6:03 to play in the game.

7:19 p.m.
Two and out and the Riders are punting. Hamilton gets the ball back in Saskatchewan territory at the 51.

7:16 p.m.
Riders get the ball on their own 20 after the kickoff.

7:15 p.m.
Touchdown Hamilton. Ford avoids the rush, unloads a monster throw and Wheatfall makes a diving catch in the end zone for a 41-yard touchdown. Six straight pass completions, 98 yards, 20-19 Hamilton with 8:34 to play. That's 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter for Hamilton.

7:12 p.m.
Five straight completions and Hamilton is up to the Riders 54.

7:06 p.m.
Harris is sacked for an eight yard loss and an incomplete pass later sees the Riders punting. Hamilton ball on their own 10 after an illegal block.

7:04 p.m.
Hamilton ends up settling for a 34 yard field goal attempt and it's good. 19-13 Saskatchewan with 13:59 to play in the game.

6:59 p.m.
Ford breaks a couple tackles and runs for 15 to get to the 31, and a short catch by Wheatfall gets Hamilton up to the 26 to close out the third quarter. 19-10 Saskatchewan lead.

6:57 p.m.
Lawler has a catch for 14 and Hamilton is into Riders territory at the 46.

6:56 p.m.
Drive stalls at the 44 and Hale crushes a 52-yard field goal for his fourth of the night, three of them longer than 40 yards. 19-10 Saskatchewan with 2:40 left in the third quarter.

6:51 p.m.
KeeSean has back-to-back catches for 10 and 11 yards and the Riders are up to the Hamilton 51.

6:48 p.m.
TiCats go for it on third-and-eight but Ford can only get four yards after being flushed from the pocket. Turnover on downs, Riders ball on their own 38 with 6:02 to play in the third quarter.

6:46 p.m.
Tre Ford is in at quarterback for Hamilton and on his second play draws a roughing the passer penalty. Hamilton up to the Sask 44. 

6:43 p.m.
A swing pass losses three yards and the drive stalls there. Hale has a 14-yard field goal and it's good. 16-10 Saskatchewan with 8:03 left in the third quarter.

6:40 p.m.
Offside penalty, nine yard run by Thomas and one yard run by Stevens and Riders are in the red zone at the Hamilton 11.

6:37 p.m.
A 15-yard catch by DDB, Riders are up to Hamilton's 34.

6:36 p.m.
KeeSean has a catch for 10 yards and Saskatchewan is over midfield to the Hamilton 49.

6:34 p.m.
We have the second-half kickoff and the Riders are on their 48 to start their next drive.

6:17 p.m.
It's a defensive battle, as expected, with Saskatchewan at 158 yards and Hamilton 127 yards after the first half. Gonna be an interesting second half. 

6:15 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN RIDERS! Harris does it again late in a half, finishing off the drive by finding Johnson over the middle. He makes a sliding catch and gets up to cross the line for his first career CFL touchdown. Nine plays 84 yards, 1:58 off the clock. 13-10 Saskatchewan with 23 seconds left in the first half

6:11 p.m.
Thomas has his first big play, a checkdown catch at the 48 that he turned into 15 yards. Riders up to the Hamilton 35 with 56 seconds remaining.

6:10 p.m.
Two completions for short gains to DDB and a 20 yard catch by KeeSean and the Riders are over midfield up to the Hamilton 50 with 1:22 to play in the half.

6:05 p.m.
Illegal block penalty pushes Hamilton back to their on 34 and they can only get back to their 45. Punt, Riders get the ball back on their own 26 with 2:28 to play in the first half.

6:01 p.m.
A four-yard run by Rountree and Hamilton is up to their own 44 at the three-minute warning.

5:58 p.m.
Drive stalls there, Hale has a 41-yard field goal attempt and it's good. 10-6 Hamilton with 3:33 remaining in the first half.

Djete has a 14-yard catch and Harris runs for three and the Riders overcome a holding penalty for a first down at the Hamilton 37.

Another stuffed run and an incomplete end zone pass to Lawler and Hamilton settles for a 15-yard field goal. It's good, 10-3 Hamilton with 9:04 left in the first half. 

5:48 p.m.
A dodgy pass interference call on Lokombo on a second down pass to Smith and Hamilton is up to the Riders seven.

5:44 p.m.
Pass over the middle to Wheatfall and Hamilton is into Riders territory at the 49.

5:43 p.m.
Hamilton starts their next drive from their own 38.

5:42 p.m.
Short run by Thomas and an incompletion over the middle to KeeSean and the Riders are punting on the first play of the second quarter.

5:37 p.m.
Thurman stops a run at the line and then a screen pass to Mitchell for four and Hamilton punts. Riders ball on their own 38 with 55 seconds left in the first quarter.

A swing pass gets stuffed for a six yard loss and screen pass is stopped at the line and the Riders are attempting a 48-yard field goal. Hale is good and it's 7-3 Hamilton with 2:23 left in the first quarter.

Sideline catch by DDB for 14 yards and Riders are into Hamilton territory at the 47.

Incompletion and a short pass for three yards to Wheatfall stuffed by Lokombo and Hamilton is punting. Riders get the ball back on their own 49 after a 20-yard return by Wiebe. 6:45 left in first quarter.

5:24 p.m.
A stuffed run and the Riders end up punting. Hamilton ball on their own 25 with 8:25 left in the first quarter.

5:22 p.m.
Djete has an eight yard catch and the Riders are into Hamilton territory at the 54.

5:21 p.m.
Good return by Johnson III sees Riders starting their next drive at their own 43.

5:17 p.m.
Touchdown Hamilton. Mitchell catches a 27-yard pass after beating the coverage. Two plays, 32 yards, 7-0 Tiger-Cats with 10:37 to play in the first quarter.

5:16 p.m.
Hamilton inteception. A pass intended for DDB goes off his hands and is picked off by Katsantonis. TiCats ball on the Riders 32.

Star Thomas gets the first touch in his first CFL game, and it's a three-yard run.

Drive stalls there, Hamilton punts, Riders ball on their own 21 with 12:26 to play in the first quarter.

A couple of passes and big gain on a reverse to Wheatfall and the TiCats are across midfield into Riders territory at the 53

Here are Luc's Three Keys to the Game:

1 – Need patience on offence. Cannot press against this defece, they have massive cornerbacks who don’t give up big plays. The big plays have to come organically and a balanced offence is a challenge for the TiCats to deal with.

2 – Have to win first down defensively. They know Saskatchewan is good on the run, have to watch the quick plays, the screens, the draws, keep an eye on getting out to the sides of the field.

3 – Overcome them in the fourth quarter. Hamilton has struggled all season in the fourth quarter, including when they first faced the Riders. So finish physically and when you’re in the deep water, you have to drown them

The elements are going to be much more conducive to comfortable football in Hamilton tonight, with a temperature of 23 C and humidex of 25 C at game time. Skies will be clear, and winds won’t be too bad at 15 km/h out of the east.

2:01 p.m.
The Rider Broadcast Network pregame show is currently on the air, with Teagan Witko and Wes Cates joined by a host of special guests. The Voice of the Roughriders Dave Thomas and analyst Luc Mullinder will have the game call at kickoff at 5 p.m.

2:00 p.m.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have been a dangerous team on defence the last couple of weeks, and they’ll be looking to keep that run going when they take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Hamilton on Saturday night.

Saskatchewan (6-2) is coming off one of their best offensive performances of the season, as they took a 42-20 win over the Ottawa Redblacks at Mosaic Stadium in Week 10. Trevor Harris passed for 401 yards and two touchdowns, KeeSean Johnson had 133 yards receiving and Tommy Stevens ran in three majors in the commanding win.

A key stat in the victory was the Riders’ run defence, as they held Ottawa to only 12 yards rushing.

Hamilton (3-6) is coming off a heartbreaking loss to the B.C. Lions, where kicker Marc Liegghio missed a 57-yard field goal on the final play of the game, giving the Lions a 27-24 victory.

The TiCats had only 26 yards rushing and 258 yards of total offence in the loss, with quarterback Harris Frost throwing for 239 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Myron Mitchell was their top yards getter with two catches for 61 yards, Kurleigh Gittens Jr. had seven catches for 54 yards.

The two teams first met at Mosaic Stadium back in Week 6 in what could affectionately be called the Blast Furnace Game, with temperatures hitting 50 C at field level.

The Roughriders defence was just as hot, coming up with their best performance of the season in the 38-7 win. Hamilton managed only 250 yards offence, in no small part due to the Riders smothering showing in the second half that saw Saskatchewan outscore the TiCats 27-0.

All indicators point to another solid night for the Riders defence, but this being the CFL, anything can happen.
