LIVE BLOG: Saskatchewan Roughriders at B.C. Lions

7:43 p.m.
B.C. runs out the clock and their win is in the books. Riders beat the absolute brakes off themselves and fall to 6-4 on the season with a 30-16 loss to the Lions.

7:41 p.m.
Riders go for it on third down from the B.C. 35 and Emilus tries to make a leaping catch but hits the ground hard and stays down with an apparent injury. He limps off and it's B.C. ball with 1:19 remaining.

7:35 p.m.
Djete has a third-down 13-yard catch to get up to the B.C. 54 with 2:15 to play.

7:32 p.m.
Rourke throws an incompletion on first down to hit the three-minute warning and Thurnan then gets a seven-yard sack. B.C. punts and Riders ball on their own 43 with 2:36 remaining in the game.

7:26 p.m.
B.C.gets a second-down coverage sack and the Riders settle for a 25-yard field goal. It's good, 30-16 Lions with 3:40 to play in the game.

7:24 p.m.
Gee whiz. TBH has a catch at the 20 but it pops loose, right into the arms of Logan Ferland for a decent gain. Close one. Riders at the B.C. 19 with 5:30 remaining.

7:21 p.m.
DDB has a catch for 30 yards and the Riders are into B.C. territory at the 40 with 7:15 remaining.

7:18 p.m.
Riders defence stiffens there, and Whyte kicks a 35-yard field goal to make it a three-score game 30-13 with 7:35 remaining in the game.

7:17 p.m.
B.C. moves the ball at will to start their next drive, with Cottoy breaking four or five tackles for a 29-yard gain and Horvath hurdling a defender for a 14-yard gain to get up to the Riders 21.

7:12 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN ROUGHRIDERS! Well now. Emilus and KeeSean each have first-down catches and DDB finishes off the drive, getting wide open and hauling in a 32 yard pass to the B.C. six. He sidesteps a pursuer and goes the rest of the way for the major. Five plays, 73 yards, 27-13 B.C. with 11:56 to play in the game.

7:08 p.m. 
The Riders need something, anything to show life and Ford makes up for his earlier miscues with a huge red zone interception, his first in the CFL. He runs back to the B.C. 48 and it's Riders ball with 13:11 remaining.

7:03 p.m.
An incomplete pass with no chance of a catch and sack for a six-yard loss and the Riders are punting. B.C. ball on their own 40 on the last play of the third quarter.

7:01 p.m.
Touchdown B.C. Horvath smashes it home, the convert is good and it's 27-6. Five plays, 85 yards, 1:09 remaining in the third quarter.

6:57 p.m.
Ford goes for an interception but Berryhill makes the catch instead and the Lions are up to the Riders 13. One play later, Ford has a late hit on a receiver and it's first-and-goal with 1:35 left in the third quarter. Getting rather unreal, ain't it?

6:53 p.m.
Interception B.C. Riders get up to the B.C. 16, a holding penalty to Collins drives them back to the 26, and one play later, Thomas-Oliver intercepts a pass to Djete. Lions ball on their own 26 with 4:06 remaining in the third quarter. And y'all thought things were rough last week?

6:47 p.m.
Welp, if everything is going wrong of your own accord, might as well try something weird. offensive lineman Daniel Johnson has a catch down the sideline for 17 yards and the Riders are into B.C. territory at the 41.

6:45 p.m.
Touchdown B.C. Rourke avoids the rush again, rolls out and finds Hatcher over the middle despite coverage for the major. Eight plays, 76 yards, 20-6 Lions with 8:04 remaining in the third quarter.

6:42 p.m.
Rourke is dead to rights sacked on the next play but somehow escapes to throw the ball away. Drive continues.

6:41 p.m.
A three-man rush gives Rourke time to maneuver and find space and he gets off a pass to the sideline to Horvath for 33 yards up to the Riders eight.

6:40 p.m.
Two passes to McInnis and the Lions are up to the Saskatchewan 37. 

6:38 p.m.
And again. Rourke throws deep and it's intercepted by Eduoard, but it's called back due to an offside penalty to Sanders. And make no mistake, folks, each and every one of these penalties are deserved. The Riders are simply destroying themselves

6:37 p.m.
Okay, now it's getting ridiculous. Nick Wiebe recovers a fumble on the punt and goes to the house for a touchdown, but Straker slips and gets too close to the ball receiver, causing a no yards penalty and setting B.C. up in their own 36.

6:34 p.m.
Penalty drives Riders back to their own 37 and they end up punting.

6:30 p.m.
Letcher has a nice return on the second half kickoff and the Riders are starting on their own 47.

6:14 p.m.
B.C. kneels on second down and it's halftime. A couple of awfully timed penalties and just some sloppy play in general by the Riders sees Saskatchewan trailing 13-6 at the break.

6:13 p.m.
Riders' fantastic luck continues. Johnson catches the ball at the 40 and goes down to the 27 but has the ball stripped from him by Williams and it's B.C. ball on their own 29 with 17 seconds left in the half.

6:09 p.m.
Stuffed run and short pass and Lions are punting, Riders ball on their own 47 with 28 seconds to play in the half.

6:08 p.m.
Drive stalls there, Lions get the ball back on their own 18 with 1:27 left in the half.

6:07 p.m.
Aw, man. Looks like the Riders have a touchdown on 49-yard run by Conley after a swing pass to the flat, but it's called back on hold by Hardrick. Tough luck, Riders pushed back to their 51 with 2:08 remaining in the second quarter.

6:03 p.m.
KeeSean has a big second down catch for 21 yards to get up to the Riders 47, and we're at the three minute warning.

5:54 p.m.
Lions get up to their 40 but no further and B.C. is punting. Riders get the ball back on their own 30 with 3:53 to play before halftime. Riders have previously had a lot of success at this point in the game…

5:53 p.m.
Interception B.C. Harris changes the play at the line and KeeSean isn't on the same page on a pass to the goalline, giving Lee an easy pick. Lions ball on their own 12 with 6:51 to play in the first half.

5:52 p.m.
Catches by KeeSean and Emilus and Riders are up to the Lions 27.

5:48 p.m.
The Riders start their next drive from their own 43 and a pass to Johnson and Stevens run has Saskatchewan at midfield.

5:44 p.m.
Touchdown B.C. A 13-yard run by Cottoy, 10-yard pass to McInnis and 23-yard pass to Cottoy and the Lions are in the end zone. Four plays, 70 yards, 13-6 B.C. with 11:51 remaining in the first half.

5:42 p.m.
Drive stalls at the 39 and Hale has a 47-yard field goal that he nails. 6-6 tie with 13:47 to play in the first half.

5:36 p.m.
Emilus has a couple of catches in traffic to get into the B.C. territory at the 54 to end the first quarter.

5:31 p.m.
Rose sacks Rourke for a two-yard loss and a well covered short pass sees B.C. settle for a field goal from 24 yards out. Whyte is good, 6-3 Lions with 1:49 left in the first quarter.

5:29 p.m.
Rourke escapes containment and runs for 19 yards to get up to the Riders 23.

5:28 p.m.
Jackson catches a pass over the middle at the first down stick and goes another 13 yards up to the Riders 42.

5:27 p.m.
Short run and deep incompletion to Emilus and Riders are punting. B.C. ends up with the ball on their own 45 to start their next drive.

5:23 p.m.
A stuffed run and near interception by Woods and B.C. is punting. Riders get the ball back on their own 19 after the punt with 6:38 to play in the first quarter.

5:19 p.m.
Riders can't get any closer and Hale has a 24-yard field goal that splits the uprights. 3-3 with 8:00 left in the first quarter.

5:18 p.m.
Catch by DDB and couple runs by Conley the Riders are in the red zone at the B.C. 16.

5:16 p.m.
Harris finds KeeSean over the middle for 24 yards to get into B.C. territory at the 46.

5:12 p.m.
Drive stalls at the 36, B.C. has a 44-yard field goal attempt and it's good. 3-0 B.C. with 12:09 to play in the first half.

5:11 p.m.
Couple of passes, including a 24-yarder to the sideline for Jackson, and the Lions are into Riders territory at the 41.

5:09 p.m.
Lions are starting from their own 34 to open the game.

5:04 p.m.
Riders win the toss and defer to the second half, B.C. willl have the football to start the game.

5:02 p.m.
The national anthem is up, the coin toss is moments away, we're minutes from kick-off!

4:58 p.m.
Here are Luc’s Three Keys to the Game:

1 – Have to get the ball out quickly. B.C.’s pass rush will be coming and trying to disrupt Trevor Harris as much as possible, so don’t give them time and get the ball moving as fast as possible.

2 – Dictate the pace vs. Sankey and the Lions defence: The B.C. linebacker is good at what he does, so throw in some quick offence and tempo and get Sankey and the entire defence front moving horizontally.

3 – Defensive tackles have to be stout: Caleb Sanders, Mike Rose, Devin Adams and Ali Saad have to contain the run, have to get pressure on the quarterback and win the battles. Won’t be easy but will be a big part of a close contest.

It’ll be an absolutely perfect day weather-wise for football in Vancouver: air-conditioned room temperature, no wind and no smoke, thanks to B.C. Place!

2:01 p.m.
The Rider Broadcast Network pregame show is currently on the air. Teagan Witko and Wes Cates are your hosts and will have plenty of special guests to help set up tonight’s game. Then the Voice of the Roughriders Dave Thomas and analyst Luc Mullinder will have the game call at kick off at 5 p.m.

2:00 p.m.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders and B.C. Lions might find themselves on different trajectories over the short term in the Canadian Football League, but anyone expecting anything other than another great game between on Sunday night might be in for a surprise.

The Roughriders are coming off one of their toughest losses of the season, as a combination of an injury-depleted roster, miscues on both offence and defence and untimely penalties led to a 26-19 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Hamilton.

The loss isn’t the end of the world for Saskatchewan, of course, as they still hold a 6-3 record and are still in second place in the West Division. And this past week also saw the team receive a host of reinforcements off the injury list, including receivers Sam Emilus and James Letcher Jr., which should help bolster the offence substantially.

One of Saskatchewan’s wins this season is against these very same Lions, that coming back in their season-opener during Week 2 of the campaign. That 31-27 victory saw the Lions suffer a host of injuries, which combined with their exclusive road schedule to start the campaign due to the World Cup, led to a disastrous start.

In fact, B.C. was at 1-5 and in last place in the West before they started to get home and healthy — and sure enough, once that happened, the wins started to add up.

As a result, the Lions come into this contest with a 4-5 record, having won their last three games and moved into playoff contention.

Their most recent outing was a 30-26 win over the Calgary Stampeders back on Aug. 13. Quarterback Nathan Rourke passed for 301 yards, running back Zander Horvath ran for 102 and a trio of receivers had more than 80 yards receiving — including Justin McInnis and Keon Hatcher Jr., both of whom have missed substantial time due to injury,

So it’s going to be an interesting match-up tonight at B.C. Place, and who comes away with the win is anybody’s guess.
