For the first time since 2022, a Saskatchewan team has captured the Softball Canada Master Men’s Championship.
The Saskatoon Brewers defeated the defending champion Cobourg Force 2-0 in Saturday night’s gold medal game at Joe Gallagher Field in Saskatoon.
Greg Hill and Grenfell product Jeremy Kenny combined for a three-hit shutout to lead the Brewers to the championship.
The Melfort 222’s were the last Saskatchewan team to win the title, doing so four years ago.
The Brewers featured several other Saskatchewan products, including Grenfell’s Tyler Thomlinson, Melville’s Sean Parkin, Whitewood’s Tony Sparvier and Wynyard’s Josh Jordan, who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
The victory capped a perfect 6-and-0 run for the host Brewers at the tournament, which began Tuesday morning.
