CANORA, SASK.- Schools in Canora and elsewhere are once again buzzing with activity as the new school year gets underway.
At Canora Junior Elementary School, students have the added excitement of getting to know a new teacher whose name is Kessi Kada.
“I am so excited to be joining the CJES team this school year!” said Kada. k. where I attended Esterhazy High School.
“Growing up, I was also involved in gymnastics through Bohemka Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, which is something I have continued to enjoy throughout my life.”
She said it was during her high school years that it became clear in her mind that, “teaching was the career for me. Looking back, I think I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. From playing school in the basement with my sister to now having a classroom of my own at CJES, it has always been something I loved.”
Following high school, Kada attended the University of Saskatchewan and completed her bachelor of education degree.
“Since Convocation, I have had the opportunity to teach in both Canora and Invermay, and I am so excited to be starting this school year at CJES. This year, I will be teaching Grade 1 ELA (English Language Arts) and Math, and I can hardly wait for school to begin!”
When asked what she enjoys about her work, Kada made it clear that her rewards come from the students.
“What I love most about teaching is getting to watch students learn, grow, and discover new things about themselves and the world around them. My hope for my students this year is that they feel safe, supported, and excited to come to school each day. I want them to feel proud of themselves, confident in their abilities, and know that it is OK to make mistakes because that is how we learn and grow.”
As time goes on, Kada said she is excited to become an active part of CJES as a whole, as well as the Canora community, and “make CJES feel like home. Outside of the classroom, you will usually find me enjoying the outdoors, hunting, fishing, or doing anything outside with my fiancé.
“I am looking forward to a wonderful school year and getting to know all of my students and their families!”
