RM OF MCKILLOP, Sask. — Southey RCMP are investigating a shooting in the RM of McKillop.
Three individuals have been charged by Southey RCMP in relation to a shooting.
On Aug. 30 at approximately 11:30 p.m., Southey RCMP received a report of a shooting at a residential property in the RM of McKillop.
The investigation determined a group of individuals attended the property and an altercation occurred between them and the occupants of the residence. During the altercation, a firearm was discharged, injuring a man. The group of individuals stole items from inside the residence and left the area in a vehicle.
The injured man was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as serious, but non-life-threatening, in nature.
Southey RCMP engaged Lumsden and White Butte RCMP, along with Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services, Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan, and Critical Incident Response Team for assistance. The Regina Police Service’s Aerial Support Unit was also engaged to assist.
As a result of the investigation, officers located the suspects’ vehicle at a residential property in Silton. RCMP officers attended the property. Two men and a woman were arrested.
While at the property, a Saskatchewan RCMP police dog located a sawed-off firearm in the yard. Southey RCMP seized the firearm, along with multiple knives, a machete, and brass knuckles, at the property.
Resulting from further investigation, a 31-year-old man, from Hatchet Lake First Nation, a 43-year-old man, from Prince Albert, and a 37-year-old woman, from Govan, are each charged with:
- one count, aggravated assault;
- one count, discharge a firearm while being reckless;
- one count, robbery with a firearm; and
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000.
The three suspects appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Sept. 1.
Southey RCMP continue to investigate.
