PREECEVILLE, Sask. — Jacqueline D. Johnson has been elected by acclamation as trustee for Sub-Division No. 2 of the Good Spirit School Division, eliminating the need for a vote in the area.
A Notice of Abandonment of Poll issued by returning officer Jennifer Lizuck states no voting will take place for the position because only one candidate was nominated.
Johnson will represent Sub-Division No. 2, which includes the villages of Endeavour, Hyas and Stenen, the towns of Preeceville and Sturgis, and surrounding rural areas.
Under Saskatchewan's Local Government Act, a poll is not required when the number of candidates does not exceed the number of available positions.
The notice confirming Johnson's election by acclamation was dated Aug. 20.
