KAMSACK, Sask. — The first two 48-niche columbariums plus granite benches arrived in Kamsack Sept. 3 and were placed on the first cement pad of a planned enhancement of Riverview Cemetery.
A multi-decade enhancement would have several such cement pads, each containing four curved columbariums, along with concrete benches. The area is to include an attractive memorial garden where receptions such as services could be held, said Barry Hvidston, CAO (chief administrative officer).
The columbariums and benches arrived from Nelson Granite of Vermillion Bay, Ont. and were placed on a 40-foot radius circular cement base with the use of a crane from Yorkton.
Helping to position the structures were Kamsack public works employees Kelsey Rauckman, Cameron Markle and Clint Mauche.
