KAMSACK — Three persons with new teaching roles were welcomed to the staff at the Victoria School in Kamsack Sept. 2 when the 2026-27 school year began.
Jori Zaporosky
Hired as an EA (educational assistant), Jori Zaporosky was born and raised in Kamsack, the daughter of Loreen and Dave Zaporosky.
A graduate of the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute in 2008, Zaporosky terms herself as a “stay-at-home mom” with two daughters aged 11 and 15 years.
Having worked four years at the Kamsack Swimming Pool, she was the facility’s manager this year and has worked as a substitute E.A. since March 2024.
Calling herself a homebody, Zaporoski says she enjoys spending time with her family, loves skiing at Duck Mountain and has recently taken up snowboarding.
Brooke Schwartz
Hired to teach Grade 4 students, Brooke Schwartz was born and raised at Runnymede, the daughter of Darren and Cindy Schwartz of Runnymede.
A KCI graduate in 2020, Schwartz graduated from the First Nation University at the University of Regain with a bachelor of Indigenous education in 2024. She has worked for two years as a physical education teacher at KCI and Victoria School.
A hockey player, who played defense with the Cote women’s junior Selects hockey team, Schwartz says she enjoys her role as an aunt.
Kaylie Donovan
Hired as a Grade 1 teacher, Kaylie Donovan was raised in Canora, the daughter of Patti-Jo and Christopher Donovan.
A 2022 graduate of the Canora Composite School, Donovan attended the University of Regina’s Suncrest College at Yorkton, receiving her bachelor of Indigenous education from First Nations University in 2026.
She will be switching to teaching Grade 4 English and math in March.
Donovan says she enjoys baking, visiting and spending time with her family.
