SAPOTAWEYAK CREE NATION, Man. — What initially appeared to be a suspicious death on the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation has been determined to be the result of an animal attack, according to the Manitoba RCMP.
Swan River RCMP received a report of a suspicious death in the community on Sept. 9. Officers responded immediately and found a 21-year-old man dead on a local road.
Police secured the scene, and RCMP Major Crime Services took over the investigation.
Following an autopsy, police say the preliminary cause of death was determined to be an animal attack. However, investigators have not yet identified the type of animal involved.
Manitoba Conservation officials have been notified of the ongoing investigation and the autopsy findings.
