KAMSACK, Sask. — Because a large rainstorm forced the postponement of Canada Day celebrations on July 1, activities, with a nod to Canada Day, were held at the Kamsack Sportsground on Sept. 5.
Canadian flags decorated the area to help remind everyone of the day, which had been planned to acknowledge the FIFA World Cup competitions that were played in the country in July.
Tending a concession stand was taken on by Kamsack council members, town staff and minor hockey parents; several large inflatable structures were placed by Bouncy Castle and Entertainment Rentals of Yorkton, and games were arranged and played.
The event was staged with the support of the Government of Canada and SaskLotteries.
Free public swimming was offered at the Kamsack Swimming Pool, and that morning a fundraising barbecue was served at the fire hall.
A highlight of the day was the ever-popular fireworks display at dusk.
