WEYBURN, Sask. — The City of Weyburn’s $30 million Weyburn Leisure Centre project remains on schedule and on budget, but potential international trade concerns are the key risk, according to a report to council.
Richard Henning presented the report by Kolten Weber of Colliers during council’s regular meeting on Sept. 14, adding that Colliers continues to monitor and maintain the risk register that was endorsed by the Steering Committee, and updating it as needed to reflect emerging risks and project changes.
“Potential international trade changes may affect availability and pricing of materials and equipment required for the project,” said Henning. “This could impact procurement sequencing and may require adjustments to specifications if certain items become delayed or cost prohibitive."
Henning said to manage this risk, the project team is talking with suppliers early to confirm current prices and delivery times, ordering materials in stages so the ones they already know they need can be locked in right away, looking for alternate approved products if needed, and working with the design team to adjust specifications only where necessary.
Draft supplemental conditions for the construction manager request for proposal have been completed.
The new facility will replace the shuttered Harry Church pool.
