The Saskatchewan Cattle Association (SCA) has started a series of district meetings throughout the province.
The first meeting was Thursday in Melfort and the next two meetings are Friday at the Spiritwood Stockyards and Saturday at Northern Livestock Sales in Lloydminster.
The next eight meetings are scheduled on the following dates and locations:
- September 28, 2026, District 7 – Elks Hall, Kindersley
- September 29, 2026, District 6 – Saskatoon Western Development Museum
- October 1, 2026, District 5 – Heartland Livestock Services Yorkton
- October 2, 2026, District 1 – Whitewood Livestock Sales
- October 3, 2026, District 2 – Milestone Masonic Hall
- October 5, 2026, District 3A – Prince of Wales Centre Assiniboia
- October 6, 2026, District 3B – Fraternal Order of Eagles, Swift Current
- October 7, 2026, District 4 – Cowtown Livestock Exchange Maple Creek
All meetings start at 7 p.m. but people are encouraged to show up early to register at 6:30 p.m.
Shelby Corey, an SCA Director for District 6, says the district meetings are a good chance to get producer input at the grassroots level.
"We will be doing a short presentation on what SCA has been working on over the past year and then it will kind of be handed over to more of an open forum for producers to come and speak to us." she said.
Producers can bring up any issue within the beef industry they feel is important, Corey added.
Corey admits scheduling fall meetings in advance is a big challenge and one of the risks is a late harvest as farmers are eager to catch up.
"I know it's really a hard time of year to get people out in the fall but we are bound by different regulations, so it is kind of our only chance to have producers come forward and talk to us."
Corey says if a cattle producer is busy and can't attend a district meeting, they can always contact the director directly.

The meetings come at a time when SCA will bring in a new CEO in Kevin Boon, who will take the role November 1.
Boon was previously the General Manager of the B.C. Cattlemen's Association.
SCA Interim CEO Sandy Russell says Boon is well-suited for the role.
"Kevin brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from the beef industry and to those who have dealt with the beef industry at a national level he is someone well-known and I'm excited for his leadership here in Saskatchewan." Russell said.
The organization has also revamped its website and communication platforms in advance of the change, Corey said.
