Tevaughn Campbell returning to the secondary and Mathew Sexton getting lots of reps in the return game highlighted the changes to the Saskatchewan Roughriders lineup at Thursday’s practice.
Campbell was back at corner as the Riders were back on the field for the first time since their 37-31 loss to Calgary last Friday. The 33-year-old has missed the last eight games since sustaining a broken forearm on Aug. 1 in Edmonton.
Sexton participated in his first full practice since being carted off the field with an ankle injury on July 12 against Hamilton. The 28-year-old CFL rookie has missed the last 10 games.
In other notable lineup news, receivers KeeSean Johnson and Sam Emilus worked out in cleats and hoodies sans jerseys or helmets, leaving Shemar Bridges to take first-team reps.
Johnson left last Friday’s game in the second half with an injury. Emilus has missed seven of the last eight games with two separate ailments. He’s been sidelined for last five games since injuring his leg at the end of the Aug. 23 game in Vancouver.
Safety Jaxon Ford also took extra reps at linebacker with Jameer Thurman and Aubrey Miller Jr.
Kicker Brett Lauther was on the field in his familiar No. 12 jersey, resulting in defensive back Malcolm Bell to switch to No. 4. Lauther was reacquired from the Ottawa Redblacks last Wednesday.
