The Melville Millionaires have made a deal with the Estevan Bruins, acquiring 2007-born defenceman Jack Bousquet and the SJHL rights to 2010-born forward Taren Anderson.
Heading to Estevan are 2008-born forward Deegan Petruska, the rights to 2009-born forward Nathan Gardiner and Melville’s fourth-round pick in the 2027 U16 Draft.
Bousquet, a six-foot-two, 185-pound defenceman from Calgary, Alberta, has recorded one assist in eight games with the Bruins during the 2026-27 SJHL season.
Anderson, from Pilot Butte, Saskatchewan, was selected 15th overall by Estevan in the 2010-born portion of the 2025 SJHL Draft. He has yet to record a point in six games this season with the Estevan Bears of the Saskatchewan Male Under-18 AAA Hockey League. Last season, Anderson recorded 19 points in 44 games with the Bears.
Petruska, a Calgary product, has one assist in six games with the Millionaires this season.
Gardiner, a forward from Gainsborough, Saskatchewan, was originally selected seventh overall by Melville in the 2024 SJHL U15 Draft. He had a productive 2025-26 season with the Regina Pat Canadians U18 AAA team, recording 78 points in 44 regular-season games.
Gardiner has carried that production into this season, registering seven goals and six assists for 13 points in eight games.
Schmalz Named SJHL Defenceman of the Week
The SJHL has also named Millionaires defenceman Keil Schmalz its SuperU Defenceman of the Week.
The 20-year-old recorded three points in three games, scoring twice and adding an assist. His standout performance came Sunday in Kindersley, where he scored twice in the third period to lead Melville to a 4-3 comeback win over the Klippers.
Melville finished its three-games-in-three-days road trip with five of a possible six points, sweeping its weekend matchups against Kindersley. Schmalz played a key role throughout the trip and earned league recognition for his efforts.
