CANORA, SASK.- “Our runners did their best and represented our school in a very positive manner.”
Canora Coaches Leona Kitchen and Thomas Lowes had reason to be proud of the local athletes at the 2026 Cross-Country Districts held at Jaycee Beach in Yorkton on Oct. 7, “and it was an absolutely beautiful day.
“It takes a lot of grit, determination, perseverance and dedication to be a cross-country runner. We train Monday thru Thursday, run longer distances than we race, sprint, and also climb the Co-op hill. Luckily, the weather this year was in our favour, so we didn't have to battle Mother Nature as we have in past years. “
With numerous personal best results, Canora athletes enjoyed the rewards of their hard work during the season.
“As coaches, it is very rewarding to see our young runners pushing themselves to the limit at practice and races. It is also very exciting when the runners finally see their own improvements. We brought home top 15 finishes, ribbons for top 10, and a few medals. The best part of all is when our runners push themselves and achieve a personal best time at the last local race of the year.”
