What do you love most about fall? For me, it has to be the colours! There’s something about driving around and seeing the beautiful shades of yellow, orange, and red that makes this time of year so special.
This year, we’ve been lucky enough to hang onto those colours a little longer than usual. One of the big reasons has been the lack of a hard frost. I still have a couple of trees and bushes around the yard holding onto their leaves, and I’m certainly not complaining!
Of course, we all know that fall in Saskatchewan doesn’t stick around forever. The forecast is looking like things are going to cool off in a hurry this weekend, with the threat of that nasty four-letter S word… SNOW!
I have a feeling that might be enough to take care of the remaining leaves and remind us that winter is just around the corner. Before we know it, those beautiful fall colours will be replaced by white, and we’ll be digging out the winter jackets, mitts, and snow shovels.
So, let’s make the most of these last few days of fall while we can. Get outside, enjoy the sunshine when it shows up, take in the scenery, and appreciate those beautiful colours before Mother Nature flips the switch on us.
Now it’s your turn! What do you love most about fall? Is it the colours, the cooler temperatures, harvest season, or maybe those cozy evenings around a fire? Enjoy it while it lasts, because Saskatchewan winter has a way of showing up before we’re quite ready!
