The Weyburn Red Wings remain at the top of the latest SJHL Power Rankings, the Warman Wolverines are making a strong push after extending their winning streak, and the Melfort Mustangs and Nipawin Hawks are also coming off impressive performances.
Weyburn holds the No. 1 spot despite suffering a 6-5 loss to the Yorkton Terriers on Wednesday night. The defeat snapped the Red Wings’ six-game winning streak, but they remain one of the league’s hottest teams, led by veteran forward Callas Pierce, who has nine goals and 11 points over his last six games.
Warman stays second after picking up its fourth consecutive win, a convincing 6-2 victory over the Battlefords North Stars. Trey Markus led the way with a goal and two assists, while Luke Brunen made 35 saves as the Wolverines moved two points clear of Weyburn in the overall standings.
Humboldt remains third, with Melfort climbing to fourth and Flin Flon slipping to fifth.
The Melville Millionaires hold sixth after collecting five of a possible six points on a three-game road trip. Keil Schmalz and Louie Nadeau have shouldered heavy minutes on the back end amid injuries, while the team continues to find ways to earn points in close games.
Nipawin moves up to seventh after extending its point streak to five games with an 8-2 win over Kindersley. The Klippers drop to ninth after suffering their fourth straight loss.
Yorkton moves into eighth following Wednesday’s win over Weyburn, snapping a three-game losing streak and returning to the .500 mark.
Battlefords sits 10th, followed by La Ronge in 11th and Estevan in 12th.
