Over the years the concept of the boy band has been perfected and improved upon with each generation. From the Beatles, to the Osmonds, DeBarge, New Kids on The Block, Backstreet Boys, One Direction, BTS and beyond, a new boy band will grab ahold of the spotlight with a fun song and capture the hearts of fans all over the world. The newest boy band is the TikTok sensation, Boy Throb. (Yes, that’s their real name that fans suggested and voted for, as Boy Throb is “The People’s Boy Band”). They went viral about a year ago for performing at a nursing home while one of their members joined the boys on stage via Zoom as he couldn’t be there for the performance.
Just four ambitious boys chasing their dream. And the people rallied behind their boy band. Helping them gain one million followers, getting press coverage, collabing with popular influencers, getting brand deals. They even sang the national anthem at an LA Kings game, threw a free concert, released original music, even a song with Kesha. All trying to show the US government that they were in fact a real boy band and have Darshan join them in America.
They captured the internet’s attention in their matching pink sweatsuits, and revealed the reason why one of them, Darshan, was on the computer. He was actually stuck in India waiting to secure a US visa to be able to unite with rest of the boys and perform as a full boy band.
This took months, almost a full year since their first video on TikTok, they broke the news to fans…
DARSHAN GOT HIS VISA! And they planned an arrival event for this month at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. We got to witness their unification live streamed to fans. Darshan, fresh off of a 10 hour flight from India, went through customs, had a Dunkin donut for the first time, got lost with their manager in the tunnels of the mall, but eventually made their way to the stage.
Now the band is on a Great American Road Trip, touring the US while performing as a full four piece boy band, still in their signature pink sweats with some updated wardrobe pieces too. They started in New Jersey and will be finishing the tour later this week in Hollywood.
As a Throbber and member of the Throb Mob (that’s what the fans are called), it was so exciting to see Darshan finally be united with the other boys, Anthony, Evan and Zach. In the comments of them performing together for the first time, lots said “it felt like the end of season 1 of a TV show”, which I 100% agree with. And I cannot wait to see what season 2 will bring for them.
Personally, I would love to see them do a country song, release an album, and hopefully add some Canadian tour dates too. Every single one of them is my favourite and I’m so glad I get to see their rise. You can’t stop the throb!
