Manitoba’s Integrated Violent Offencers Apprehension Unit (MIVOAU) was busy last week, arresting over two dozen people across the province as part of targeted operations.
From Oct. 19-21, officers from the unit, with assistance from other law enforcement agencies travelled to five communities – Dauphin, Grandview, Winnipegosis, and the Sandy Bay and Ebb and Flow First Nations, making a total of 28 arrests, while seizing three firearms and an ounce of cocaine.
Mounties say the most notable incident was on Oct. 21, when officers went to a Grandview home and searched a home with the owner’s consent, finding a firearm in plain view, along with a small amount of cocaine.
Six people in the home were arrested and face drug and/or weapon charges, including one who had been wanted by police.
