SASKATCHEWAN — Saskatchewan RCMP is reminding residents to take precautions to prevent vehicle thefts.
With the drop in temperatures, people may be tempted to leave their vehicles running – creating risk of vehicle thefts and break-ins.
Here’s a recent example from Nov. 5 at around 8 a.m., a truck was stolen after it was left parked and running at a residence in North Battleford. The truck was unoccupied at the time of the incident. Battlefords RCMP continue to investigate.
Saskatchewan RCMP remind residents to take precautions that may help to prevent thefts.
- Consider installing a remote starter so your vehicle does not require keys to warm up.
- Never leave a vehicle unattended with the keys inside.
- Don’t keep valuables in an unattended vehicle.
- Never leave spare keys or garage door openers in your vehicle. Remember that if they are stolen, it could provide thieves access to your garage, house or outbuildings.
- Park your vehicle in a garage at home, if possible.
- Park your vehicle in well-lit, secure areas.
