Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan has provided 1.36 million dollars in grants to over eight-hundred community groups and organizations, through its first quarter charitable gaming grant program.
Within our listening area, groups in the Yorkton and Melville areas received more than $98,000 in grants.
Notably, more than $22,000 will go to Esterhazy, with over $18,000 of that presented to the Esterhazy Lions Club, while the Theodore and District Recreation Board receives almost $1,700 dollars, and the Bredenbury Day Care gets just shy of $1,900 dollars.
Over $25,000 goes to groups in Yorkton, including more than $5,900 dollars to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Yorkton and area, while the Preeceville Lions Club receives almost $11,000, and Canora Minor Hockey gets almost $2,300 dollars.
Almost $8,800 dollars in grants are headed to Melville, including over $5,800 to the SJHL’s Melville Millionaires, while Ituna will see more than 64-hundred in grants, including more than $2,700 for the Ituna School, and over $2,400 for the Community Arena, and the Southey Communiplex will get just over $2,000.
The grants go to groups that hold licenced charitable gaming activities, such as bingos and breakopen ticket sales, with the grants equalling 25 per cent of the net revenue raised by such events.
