Sentencing has been handed down to a Winnipeg man charged following the death of Indian Head RCMP Constable Shelby Patton.
In June of 2021 in Wolseley, the 26-year-old Patton stopped a truck that had reportedly been stolen from Manitoba, and while Patton was out of his vehicle, the truck ran him over, leaving him with fatal injuries.
In September, 44-year-old Alphonse Traverse pled guilty to Manslaughter and Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and today in Regina Court of King’s Bench, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison on the Manslaughter charge, along with an 18-month concurrent sentence for the vehicle theft.
His co-accused, 45-year-old Marlene Pagee, who is charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder, remains in custody, and will be back in Regina Provincial Court on March 18th.
