Vandals recently struck at the Scouts camp at Good Spirit Lake, causing major damage, forcing the camp to cancel some planned events over the weekend, and likely push back the camp’s summer schedule by several weeks.
Yorkton Scouts Local Group Commissioner Kent Latimer says 13 windows were smashed, four doors were damaged, and fire extinguishers were discharged, causing an estimated $20,000 in damage.
The camp was forced to cancel some planned events over the weekend, and likely push back the camp’s summer schedule by several weeks.
Latimer says the community as well as fellow Scouting groups from across the province have rallied around the Scouts, noting a full crew was out at the camp cleaning up on Friday, adding that a Go Fund Me page, entitled “Good Spirit Camp Rescue,” has been set up for anyone who would like to contribute to help cover the repair costs.
